ChatGPT-4o vs Jasper.ai • Capabilities Breakdown
Have you ever wondered about the viability of the leading applications in AI, when they seem poised to accomplish the same things, trying to discern where they compare and why bother with one over the other? Me too.
Origin Stories
To help make a little more sense of the AI toolbox, let me start at the very beginning of these 2 applications. Who started them, what the goal was (because ‘you steer where you stare’) and where they are today.
Jasper.ai
Jasper AI was launched to the public back in January 2021 in one of my favorite places to eat BBQ — Austin, Texas. For those who might recall, it came to market as Jarvis by founders Dave Rogenmoser (CEO), Chris Hull, and John Phillip Morgan. The platform was built on OpenAI’s AI models allowing it to create blog posts and illustrations too. It did such a phenomenal job of speeding up and improving the process of creating quality SEO-friendly marketing copy, that it quite literally revolutionized the way Creatives (bloggers, copywriters and marketing managers) produced digital content. What set their solution apart, was not just the ease of creating copy at scale, but producing something in the tone of voice that felt human and relatable.
Jasper AI’s CEO Dave Rogenmoser saw GenAI as a tool to solve real-world business problems. When I read Dave Rogenmoser’s comments — I could not relate MORE to his sentiment! I started in 2022 teaching creative professionals how to understand and integrate GenAI -and found that most were not seeing AI as a tool to amplify their productivity, but a novelty… a toy.
‘We had gotten into the Slack group with people that were using GPT-3 and I thought everybody in there was going to have these amazing ideas of what this could do. But as I was reading through the messages, I thought, Nobody here understands how valuable this is. Everyone thinks it’s just a toy.’ — Dave Rogenmoser, Forbes article on the creation of Jasper
