In V.5 of Midjourney - before --cref (and now the external image editor) of Midjourney V.6, I released this 157 page guide called “Using the SplitScreen Method - for Character Consistency in Midjourney.” When it comes to V.5, this is STILL the best way to have character consistency with varied poses. But as mentioned - V.6 provided us with --cref which genuinely changed the AI game for Midjourney. But even still, there are some times where the render created with --cref looks a bit different from the character produced. I could not help but wonder - could a bit of the SplitScreen Methed be applied with a V.6 twist? The answer is - yes.

Let me walk you through a couple processes.

1 • From a Created Character..

The first process I want to take a look at, is from a fully AI generated character. With that in mind, I am prompting to create a character to work with:

a portrait photograph of Patricia, 35 year old brunette beauty with hazel eyes and freckles, isolated on blank white background, dynamic action --ar 16:9 --style raw --stylize 300 --v 6.1

With my wife in mind, I rendered out a female by the same name - Patricia - and a few relevant details. The initial aspect ratio does not matter. In fact, the only thing that matters here, is creating a character you like the general vibe of. No pressure. Here are the results.
