Some of my best ideas come from inspiration, and inspiration comes in many forms for me. This time, I am starting with a book. This is book I picked up some time back - “Vintage T-Shirts: More than 500 Authentic Tees From the 70s and 80s” Lisa Kidner + Sam Knee. It was released in 2006.

On page 42-45, it features shirt designs by Shawn Stüssy with the iconic Stüssy ‘signature’ logo.

A few of these were memorable to childhood, but one I recall fondly, was the Chairman Mao, Charlie Don’t Surf shirt design that came out in the late 80s - because I had wanted one of these!

So… now I have a starting point of inspiration. I like “Charlie don’t surf” but I want to play off of Putin and Russia. Best place for that? Let’s take it over to ChatGPT to get some fun ideas to play with.
