It's the opposite of additive prompting (which builds complexity by layering instructions). This is especially useful for understanding how a model interprets certain words or styles and for refining control over results.
Reductive = eliminating & observing
Additive = adding to & observing
Transformational = switching one thing & observing
Generative = pushing AI to hallucinate
