Google Search Lab
Let’s start here with Google’s Search Lab. Google now lets you virtually try on clothes using an image of yourself, in four simple steps:
Opt in to get started: Head over to Search Labs and opt into the “try on” experiment.
Browse your style: When you’re shopping for shirts, pants or dresses on Google, simply tap the "try it on" icon on product listings.
Strike a pose: Upload a full-length photo of yourself. For best results, ensure it's a full-body shot with good lighting and fitted clothing. Within moments, you can see how the garment will look on you.
Show it off: Tried it on? Save or share your look with friends — or tap to shop similar styles at your fingertips.
How to try things on:
1. After turning on the experience, search for a product, tap it, then look for the button
Upload a well-lit, full body photo of yourself to see how the style looks on you.
Save it, share it and more
Now, let’s see this tool in action.
First - I had to get a photo of myself. While I grab head-shot selfies when I am out and about - the full length is not something I have tried very often. At 6’4”, I come off looking like the Jolly Green Giant’s very pale friend. Here are some shots I managed to grab at 6:30 in the morning…

Ummm - there IS a head in the shots - so seeing them like this lets me know which one might be the best option. Mister-thinks-he’s-a-cowboy post in the top right.
I uploaded that shot as my pose… then selected the “Heavyweight Chore Jacket” (keeps in the cowboy vibe)…
And here is what Google gave me:
Oooh look - it made me look like Tiny Tim! It added shoes to my feet, and set me on the front edge of the chair (that were cut off in the original image).
So, for the Creative Pros out there - you might decide to edit your image BEFORE taking it to Google Search Lab Try On. In my case - I would just have my wife take a better full-length picture of me to work with…
You know me - I can’t just stop at ‘that is good enough’ - so I took one of the other images of me to Midjourney EDIT and decided to change out the background a bit.
While this is good enough, I took my favorite render to Topaz Bloom to upscale and enhance the detail.
Wow - I suppose upping the creativity to Medium, really gave it more free-reign to modify my features a bit. Taking that down to Low Creativity, I got this from the upscaler.
This will work - okay for now. Let me use this image for some try ons.
Grabbing the mnml Men’s Astro Rave Double Cargo to sample…
I ended up with this look:
I don’t know.. I never got into the super-baggy skateboarding phase of the late 80s - but the pockets for days vibe is… definitely not me. So let me explore something bold, but definitely in my wheel house of possibilities. A men's Italian wool ginger orange suit.
This is fun. It is not perfectly me, nor is the ginger orange suit THE exact suit referenced in my search and ‘tried on’ - but it is close enough to get the vibe.
Love to get your thoughts, so give it a try and let me know how your experience went!
